The Abia State Polytechnic, Aba is currently under lock and key as the gates of the institution; as well classrooms have been locked against students of the institution as the institution begins another era of strike today.
The strike is not connected to the proposed ASUP strike; but an internal action stemming from the nonpayment of staff salary for over nine months.
This has also forced the examinations of the OND 2 and HND 2 to be put on hold; pending when the demands of the polytechnic staff are met and the school reopened.
Mrs. Clara, a senior lecturer in the School of Administration, said;
The staff have been quiet enough and it is time we forced the hands of the government to come to us because they have long forgotten us.
Although the school is generating regular income and has also placed a compulsory payment of school fees before writing exams, the institution could still not pay its workers.
