Bauchi Bridge Collapse – See ‘The Pensive WhatsApp Status’ Of Chemistry Student Before Death

This is a sad story, but also reflective too.

Could Salamat have had a premonition about her death?

Salamat, a 200 level student of who was killed as a result of the ‘Bauchi Bridge Collapse’ during a heavy downpour on Monday shared a very concerning WhatsApp status update.

A screenshot of the status by her friends expressed how Salamat made reference to going to heaven and sleeping peacefully. Salamat and some of her colleagues were reading in a classroom at about 10 pm when they decided to hurry back to the hostel as the weather became windy.

Just before going to use the pedestrian bridge that caused her to drown, Salamat updated her Whatsapp status. In her words

My degree will not go up with me to heaven. Therefore, I will not come and kill myself over school. If I don’t know it by 11.30pm, I am resting my head peacefully on my pillow and going to sleep” she wrote

An hour later she drowned and died

Now, this is indeed sad and very reflective. What do you think?

  1. See to how these phrases relate to transitioning into the life after: “…going up to heaven”, “kill myself”, and “going to sleep”.
Everyone is an architect of their life by what they say or do. Nothing is an accident but all is a result of what we do or fail to do. It’s a sad incidence but I hoped her words did not just “kill her” but would also take her “up to heaven” after her “going to sleep”.
